We want to invite you and a partner, your family and friends to join us for sundowners on Friday 24 October 2014 at 18:30 for the first of many new exhibitions which will be happening at theOude Libertas Auditorium.

We want to take you on a two year long visual arts journey, which will take us through South Africa and its many different cultures. It is a visual art series where the stories of many South Africans will be told. It will portray – how and where they live, what they eat and drink, their language and cultures. Through this Visual Arts Educational Project , supported by the Distell Foundation manages Distell’s CSI (Corporate Social Investment) programmes, we aim to give people insight into each other’s lives. We hope these exhibitions will create dialogue which will lead to better understanding, respect and a more effective way of communication and interacting with one another. We want to celebrate our differences in this beautiful country we call home. We will however also venture into Africa and the rest of the world during this time just to spark some more interest!

We thus hope to welcome you to “Orania” the first exhibition of this journey – a photo series by photographer Michael Hammond

This particular exhibition of “Orania” is brought to you by The South African Centre for Photography, the Cape Town Month of Photography  and the Stellenbosch Week of Photography & New Media in collaboration with the World Design Capital Cape Town 2014.

Enjoy the journey with us!
