All Day

Oude Libertas Gallery opened officially on 5 March with the exhibition, Blink/Oog(wink) of Louis Jansen van Vuuren, the internationally acclaimed artist who lives in Boussac, France.  Jansen van Vuuren amazed and dazzled his “preview” audience on Sunday with the 54 beautifully executed works.  Sunday’s Preview for old and new friends, and acquintances, was held during the day and it was only late in the afternoon when guests left this beautiful venue amongst the vineyards.

On 5 March the official opening of this amazing space was enjoyed by one and all who came to see the new Oude Libertas Gallery – The opening speech was done by Dr Elizabeth Gunter, Academic from the University of Stellenbosch Visual Arts Faculty – during the evening the new venue sparkled and guests were entertained by the beautiful art, lovely ambience and good food and wine.  This was a joyful evening and the gallery lent itself to socializing and appreciating the art.  It is a spacious venue with lots of promise for the future.

The current exhibition runs till 17th April and gallery hours are:

Monday to Friday: 09h00 till 16h00
Saturdays: 09h00 till 14h00.

“Ceramics” – Anton Bosch

“Ceramics” – Anton Bosch

31/10/2013 - 10/11/2013
All Day

Please remember the Walkabout with Anton Bosch will be on the 6th of November at 11h00.

Born on July 11, 1958 in Pretoria, South Africa

Anton Bosch has lived and worked near the town of White River in South Africa for some thirty years.

Born into an artistic household – his father is celebrated ceramisist Esias Bosch – Anton grew up playing and working with clay. After majoring in painting and drawing at the Pretoria Art School, he returned to ceramics. He soon established himself as a potter in whose work the painterly aspect plays a significant role.

Anton regards working with clay as an experience which brings him into intimate contact with the natural world and he attempts to offer an authentic sense of this connection in his art. He emphasises that although his work has a narrative quality, it is not intellectual and remote.

‘I like to think my work is accessible simply because everyone can find their own meaning in what I am trying to express,’ he says.

Anton’s work has been exhibited extensively in South Africa and it is featured in various national and international collections as well as in the Keramion Museum in Hanover, Germany.
