Exhilarating world music production Afrique mon désir (Afrika my Verlange), directed by David Kramer.

Afrique mon désir (Afrika my Verlange) is directed by David Kramer with musical direction by Schalk Joubert and features singer and composer, Laurinda Hofmeyr, well known for setting poetry to music, performing with an ensemble of world class musicians and singers from Cape Town and West Africa.

Africa’s most beautiful and relevant poetry from as far as Madagascar to Mauritania and Cameroon to Cape Town is set to mesmerising rhythms, energetic dance routines and beautiful animation, making this show an audio-visual feast

The show blew audiences and critics away this year at Woordfees, KKNK, where it received nominations for Best Music Group and Best Music Production. It continued to have successful runs at The Fugard Theatre in Cape Town and internationally in Paris, Bordeaux, Poitiers and Angouleme. The album with the same title was picked up by French musiclabel, In Ouïe and released world-wide in May 2018.

During its tour in France, the production was embraced by the international media – Hofmeyr was invited to be a guest on the international news channel France 24’s prime time Eye on Africa show as well as the Parisian based TV Tele Sud’s Africa Hour show. Established Bordeaux-based music critic, Bernard Jean, described Afrique mon désir as “the best album and stage production” he has seen in the last decade.

Afrique mon désir (Afrika my Verlange)

Laurinda Hofmeyr se skitterende aangrypende interpretasies van die musiek doen die titel gestand. Hierdie moet in elkeen se kalende geskryf wees. Moet dit nie WEER misloop nie.

Afrique mon désir (Afrika my Verlange) Afrika Du fehlst mir. Audio-Visual Fest.

Unbedingt Nicht verpassen!!
