NOTICE: Melanie Scholtz will not be part of the performance on 29 Dec. There has been an unforeseen situation and she is literally stuck in New York.

The new vocalist standing in for Melanie Scholtz is Lauren Dasappa. Lauren has previously performed at Oude Libertas with Richard Cock for the Viennese Concert in Jan 2017.

CT Tango Ensemble will take the audience on a journey through times and play music from the early days of Tango up to today.
They can expect to hear music by Carlos Gardel (the composer and singer of the famous Por una cabeza or as the South Africa public knows the song from “Scent of a Woman”) up to music of Astor Piazzolla and after him, including some original compositions by CT Tango Ensemble members.

For those who love to dance the Tango, do not forget your dance shoes. A beautiful dance floor will be supplied by Dance Floor Hire at theater entrance and it will be open for a Milonga (Tango social event) during the interval and after the concert.

All 3 CDs of CT Tango Ensemble will be on sale on the evening.


The production takes you to Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Prague, Paris & New York.

It will showcase the landmark ensemble of the Cape Town music scene for over 2 decades – the ever popular CT Tango Ensemble. They have collaborated with many artistes through the years. This time they have invited the well- known ex Cape Town songstress and Jazz Diva – Melanie Scholtz. All the way from New York, Melanie will sing her heart out celebrating the joy of performing to her home crowd under the stars of Stellenbosch.
The audience can expect excellent instrumental numbers by CT Tango Ensemble and some moving vocal numbers by Melanie Scholtz. She will be performing songs from her new album “La Caminata” as well as songs from CT Tango Ensemble CD “Tango Dreams”.
You can expect to hear songs like Whatever Lola want, Besame mucho, music by Astor Piazzolla and some original compositions by CT tango Ensemble.
Dance Floor & Milonga for the Tango enthusiasts will happen during the interval & after the show.
